THE GLOBAL MICROPHONE

WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE TO SAY?

IMAGINE:

You are given a microphone that somehow transmits directly into the mind of every living human on earth, and you have everyone’s undivided attention.

THE CATCH?

You only have 60 seconds.

And you can only do it once.

WHAT WOULD YOU SHARE?

With the ability to reach every human being on Earth, you have the potential to make a difference.

THE GLOBAL MICROPHONE ~ A PARTICIPATORY COMMUNITY

What is most important to you that you’d want to pass it along to everyone else?

Or, if you were on your deathbed and only had a minute left to communicate to your loved ones, what would you want to say?

DEC. 2019 UPDATE ~ WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING VIDEOS TO HELP LAUNCH THIS PROJECT, WITH A PLANNED PUBLIC RELEASE IN JAN. 2020

Will you treat this as a creative writing exercise, take your time in crafting it, and make sure you’re expressing exactly the most precise essence of your innermost self?

Or will you shoot from the hip and lay it on stream of consciousness style?

Would you share your:

INSPIRATION

Your profound truth

Your deepest wisdom

Your grandest vision

Your inspired insights

EXPERIENCE

Things you’ve learned

Some guidance

Some perspective

Your intuition

REGRETS

Things to get off of your chest

Things you wish you hadn’t done

Or wish you hadn’t said

An apology never delivered

Your deepest fears

HOPES

What you’d wish for your family

For your community

For humanity

For all living beings

For the world as a whole

The Global Mic Vision

What fuels this project is the suspicion that when we cut to the core of our lives, and put our fingers on the things that really matter, that humans share more similarities than differences. I thought that this would be an interesting, revealing, and potentially fun way to explore this concept.

By inviting submissions from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe, I hope to shine a light on the common threads and themes that can serve our collective identity as humans living on planet Earth, and help heal the wounds of separation that keep us from truly connecting and identifying with one another.

How To Create a Global Mic Video

Project Guidelines:

We recommend borrowing a friend or family member’s phone to use as a 60 second timer, and practicing once of twice to get your timing right.

Please do your best to honor the 60 second guideline.

We suggest imagining you really are speaking to the entire world, and what that would feel like ~ we imagine it would be pretty intense, and have your words reflect the power that talking to the world would entail.

Hold your phone HORIZONTALLY for best results.

Once you are happy with your 60 second video, hit the SEND VIDEO button or link and it will take you to the contact form ~ please put VIDEO READY in the subject line, and a detailed email will be returned to you with final uploading instructions.

Video Submission Guidelines

Videos must be 60 seconds or less.

Longer videos will be deleted.

All submitted videos must conform to community standards of respect and decency towards your fellow humans ~ videos containing hate, discrimination, sexism, racism, or threats in any form will be deleted and the user banned.

This is not a medium to proselytize your religion, nor to belittle anyone else’s beliefs that are different from yours.

The Global Mic Project is intented to create a medium to distill your core thoughts and beliefs to help heal the differences that divide us, to celebrate our common bonds, and shine a light on the similarities that connect us all.

Submitting a video to this website or to your own uTube channel with the hashtag #globalmicproject grants us permission to include your video in this community project, though you as the creator retain full ownership and rights to your submitted video.

Join us! It will only take a minute…
